Olmstead Plan
The Community First Olmstead Plan is a work in progress. The six goals provide a framework for ongoing and future work focused on achieving the mandate and the spirit of the Olmstead decision: people with disabilities across the lifespan have a right to live in their communities. Register to Vote
Voters with Disabilities (Nov. 2, 2010 Election)
Are you registered to Vote? What about the people you serve and family members? Did you know that if you've moved since you last registered you will need to register again?
Registering is easier than ever. We are working with CareVote to register as many staff, clients, and family members as possible. The Independent Living Center's CareVote leader is Shawn McDuff who can be reached at 978-741-0077 x 140 or by email at Smcduff@ilcnsca.org. Shawn can help you register and mail in your registration form to your Town or City Hall. You can also go to www.carevote.org for more information.
Americans with Disabilities Act
The national network of ADA & IT Technical Assistance Centers, also known as DBTACs, seek your comments on experiences with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Your feedback on experiences in employment, building access, or access to public services will help the Centers identify training gaps and issues needing increased technical assistance. Tell us what has worked for you, what barriers you still encounter and how the ADA has made a difference in your life.
On-Going Advocacy Groups & Workshops
Community Access Advocacy Team (CAAT) meets on first Tuesday of each month from 2- 4 PM at ILCNSCA main office, 27 Congress Street, Suite 107, Salem. CAAT performs advocacy for accessibility in the community and works to mitigate/erase cultural barriers to persons with disabilities participating fully in all community activities. To join, contact Shawn McDuff at 978-741-0077 x 140 or email Smcduff@ilcnsca.org.
