April 27, 2017 marked the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the ILCNSCA which was held at the Kernwood Country Club, Salem, MA. The event was attended by over 150 people from across the North Shore and Cape Ann as well as from across MA. Digital messages from US Senator Elizabeth Warren, US Representative Seth Moulton, along with a slide show of 30 years of memories, a citation from Governor Charles Bake and Lt. Governor Karen Polito, listings of over 40 sponsors were projected throughout the event which ran from 4:30 to 7 PM.
The evening was highlighted by MA Representatives Paul Tucker, Thomas Walsh, Jerry Parisella, Brad Hill and MA SENATOR Joan Lovely who presented the Executive Director Mary Margaret Moore with a Joint Resolution from the Massachusetts General Court for ILCNSCA 30 years of service to the community. A variety of awards were presented: The Nielsen Youth Leadership Award presented to Andrew Wong: The Adrien Award for Outstanding Advocacy presented to Mary Beth Fox; The Leavitt Award for Lifetime Achievement presented to Mary Margaret Moore; and the Family Support Award presented to Marcia Brennan. Employer of the Year was announced for Market Basket in Danvers, and will be presented to them by MRC, Salem, office at a later time.
The ILCNSCA Board of Directors announced they will be instituting a new award, the Mary Margaret Moore Award, to be given for the first time in Spring, 2018.
Executive Director Mary Margaret Moore announced that as of June 24, 2017 she will be leaving the ILCNSCA after 18+ years of service and embarking on new challenges for her talents and advocacy.
